The Adirondack Park Agency (APA) will hold its regularly scheduled monthly meeting at its Headquarters in Ray Brook on Thursday, May17, 2012 at 9:00 AM. The meeting is one day only and will be webcast live. The Agency will plant a tree in honor of Dr. Edwin Ketchledge in honor of Earth Day and Arbor Day.
The Full Agency will convene at 9:00 AM for Executive Director Terry Martino’s monthly report. The Executive Director will review monthly accomplishments and program highlights.
At 9:30, the Regulatory Programs Committee will review two previously approved projects. Agency staff will provide a status overview of permit 2004-31 which authorized the 21-lot Stickney Bridge Subdivision project in the Town of Franklin, FranklinCounty. The Committee will also hear a presentation on variance project 2010-273 which authorized signage on a car dealership in the Town of Warrensburg, Warren County.
The Committee meeting will conclude with an informational presentation for a proposal to implement a wetland mitigation banking agreement between the NYS Department of Transportation, the Adirondack Park Agency and the US Army Corps of Engineers for NYSDOT activities in the Adirondack Park.
At 11:00, the Public Awareness and Communication Committee will discuss possible speakers and topics for future presentations to the Agency Board.
At 11:30, the Full Agency will assemble for an Earth Day and Arbor Day celebration. The Agency will plant a tree in honor of Dr. Edwin Ketchledge.
At 1:00, the Park Ecology Committee will come to order for a briefing from Hilary Smith, Director of the Adirondack Park Invasive Plant Program/Adirondack PRISM. Smith will brief the Agency on the latest developments affecting invasive species management in the Park and provide an update on the APIPP program.
At 1:45, the Legal Affairs Committee will convene for the Agency Counsel’s Report which will include a legislative update.
At 2:00, the Economic Affairs Committee will hear a presentation on Regional Broadband Initiatives. James Wright, Executive Director of the Development Authority of the North Country(DANC), will discuss the status of DANC’s development of broadband infrastructure in the Park.
At 3:00, the Full Agency will convene for the Community Spotlight presentation. This month Ticonderoga Supervisor Debra Malaney will discuss challenges and opportunities facing Ticonderoga.
At 3:45, the State Land Committee will receive an informational presentation from NYS Department of Environmental Conservation staff on the Taylor Pond Wild Forest Unit Management Plan.
At 4:30,the Full Agency will assemble to take action as necessary.
The meeting will conclude with committee reports, public and member comments.
