Cassiopeia

Cassiopeia

Mike Rector

Although he now lives in Clinton County, amateur astronomer Michael Rector has fond memories of spending time at Great Sacandaga and West Canada Lake where the skies are dark and the Milky Way is bright.

Michael writes about astronomy on his own blog Adirondack Astronomy and is interested in getting together with other star-gazers around the region. If you are interested in getting together for an occasional star party feel free to contact him at adirondackastronomer@gmail.com.

    Mike,
Could you post a shot of the ADK night sky with the labeled constellations? Would be nice, a lot to learn here. :)

For the past year I have been posting monthly objects to look for in the night sky that provided a link to printable skymaps. If you missed the maps they can be found at this link http://www.skymaps.com/downloads.html
They release a new map every month, as the position of the constellations changes rapidly each month.

I am working on getting a nice shot of the stars over some mountains, if that’s what you’re looking for I will be sure to post it as soon as I complete the project. I’ll also be sure to show and label the constellations in the completed image. Right now rain and clouds have been holding me back.

PS – The IAU link I provided (iau.org) can provide you with all the constellations with their labels on their site, if that is more what you’re looking for.
