BuzzzFest Returns To Adirondack Wild Center

Flight of the Butterflies - Monarch Gathering - SK FilmsThe Wild Center will celebrate creepy crawlies at BuzzzFest on Saturday, July 6th.  BuzzzFest honors creatures from dragonflies to honey bees and all the buzzing, chirping and crawling things in between. This year there will be a special focus on monarch butterflies with the Adirondack premiere of the film Flight of the Butterflies.

The monarch butterfly is a true marvel of nature.  Weighing less than a penny, it makes one of the longest migrations on Earth to a place it has never been.  The film follows the monarchs’ perilous journey to join hundreds of millions of butterflies in the remote mountain peaks of Mexico through cinematography by an award-winning filmmaking team that includes Oscar winner Peter Parks.

There will also be special performances by Billy B, natural science song and dance man, throughout the day. Billy B. blends zany humor, dances and original songs with solid science about insects and other animals through interactive performances. Visitors can also pet some creepy crawlies from the Utica Zoo Mobile; The Butterfly Garden will be open, plus insect races, insect tours, and talks with a bee hive expert who will show you how to raise your own bees.

The Wild Center is open daily from 10 a.m. until 6p.m. between Memorial Day and Labor Day.  For more information, visit www.wildcenter.org.
