Westport Community Concert Series Announced

Soundwaves WestportSoundwaves: The 19th Annual Westport Community Concert Series on the shores of Lake Champlain at Ballard Park in Westport, NY, will be held on Thursday evenings at 7:30 from July 3rd to August 27th, 2014.

North Country resident and veteran Jazz trumpeter Taylor Haskins is serving as curator and organizer for this year’s event, taking over after the community lost state funding for the events.

In his 20+ years  as a working musician, Haskins has recorded 5 albums as a band leader and last year alone played on recordings by Nels Cline, Jamie Baum, Alan Ferber, Joel Harrison & JC Sanford. A singular trumpet voice, Taylor is also the lead trumpeter for Dave Holland’s Big Band and a long time member of Guillermo Klein’s Los Guachos. Despite his jazz background, this summer Haskins is expecting to bring to the stage world music, folk, bluegrass, classical, as well as jazz.

The 2014 summer series takes place at the Ballard Park Performance Pavilion. Bring a blanket and/or lawn chairs and a picnic. The rain site is across Main Street/Route 22 in the Westport Heritage House.  Follow  the Soundwaves page on Facebook or visit their Tumblr:
