30th Indian Lake Winterfest Planned

IMG_2055The 30th Indian Lake Winterfest will kick off with a parade on Friday, February 13, 2015 at 4:30 pm.

This year’s theme is the Wild, Wild West and will include a SnoCade Photo Scavenger Hunt, during which participants will have a week to snap various pictures of the town to win two gift certificates. Lots of activities and events are planned.

Friday night will end with the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary will be hosting a Lasagna Dinner from 4:30 to 8 pm at the Indian Lake Meal Site (Adults $10; children under 8, $5.)

Saturday will feature a variety of indoor and outdoor events including the Indian Lake Volunteer Fire Department’s Winterfest Breakfast, at the Indian Lake Fire Hall from 7 am to 10 am. At 9 am the Snowarriors Snowmobile Club’s Poker Run begins at Byron Park on Route 28. At the town offices there will be a Book and Cookie Sale, sponsored by the Friends of the Indian Lake Library from 10 am to 2:30 pm, Saturday and Sunday.

At Indian Lake Central School the Chamber of Commerce will hold the Winter Wonderland Craft Show in the school’s cafeteria on Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 3 pm. Kids can participate in Wild, Wild West Kids Games from 1 to 3 pm at the Town’s Ski Hill. Following the kids games, test there will be a Snow Horseshoe competition beginning at 3:30 pm also at the Ski Hill.

The Indian Lake Central School Travel Club Tricky Tray will begin at 6 pm with the drawings for prizes beginning at 7 pm. On Sunday, breakfast at the Fire Hall will be offered from 7 am to 11 am before The Annual Redneck Cardboard & Duct Tape Sled Race which begins with registration at 12:30 pm, before racing starts at 1 pm.

The Winterfest Weekend will end with a Torch Run and Fireworks beginning at 6:45 pm at the Ski Hill. President’s week fun continues with Indian Lake’s SnoCade events all through the following week.

To join the parade pick up a form at the Indian Lake Town Hall’s Events/Activities Office on Pelon Road in Indian Lake or call 648-5828. Parade winners will be announced after the parade at the Indian Lake Restaurant & Tavern. SnoCade Photo Scavenger Hunt registration forms can be found at Town Hall, Pine’s Country Store, or from the Indian Lake Chamber of Commerce.
