Keene Eye on Architecture Exhibition

aarch exhibitAdirondack Architectural Heritage (AARCH) will welcome renowned architect Nils Luderowski to AARCH’s Clayton Family Gallery.

Luderowski specializes in architecture and design in an Adirondack vernacular and this exhibition features a uniquely expressive series of drawings from a variety of the architect’s regional projects.

Joshua Whitney of Eastbranch Design notes that “Nils pioneered the ‘New Adirondack Style’ of architecture, an authentic blend of Shingle, Craftsman, Prairie and regional expressions.  His structures thoughtfully address natural site features and are carefully scaled.  They are rich in texture, color, and have a close relationship with the natural landscape- becoming part of the landscape itself.”

Kate Ritter, Program Director at AARCH, underlines a connection between art and architecture: “This array of sketches, renderings, and photographs allows the viewer to experience the multi-layered development of a building – from concept to completion.  Nils illustrates how the beauty of architectural design can exist not only in the product, but also in the process, and his displayed pieces unite the knowledge of an architect with the vision of an artist.”

The opening reception and “Meet the Architect” will be held on Friday, February 6th from 5 pm – 8 pm at AARCH’s historic horse nail factory building in Keeseville.  Learn more at www.aarch.org.

The show is open from February 6th through June, 2015.  Gallery hours are Monday through Friday 8 am – 4 pm.  This show is the second in a series of new exhibitions in AARCH’s Clayton Family Gallery.  Individuals and artists interested in learning more about the gallery spaces or the current exhibition may contact Michele Drozd at 518.834-9328, or Michele@aarch.org.
