Raquette Lake Winter Carnival This Weekend

Cross Cut Chainsaw Competition RLThe Raquette Lake Winter Carnival will be held this weekend and will feature a snowshoe trek to Great Camp Sagamore. Ice Golf, Frying Pan Toss, a cross-cut and chainsaw competition, and more.

The event will kick off Friday night, February 13th at the Raquette Lake Fire Hall, starting at 5 pm with an all you can eat $10 Pasta Dinner to benefit the Raquette Lake Ladies Softball Team featuring assorted pastas, salad, garlic bread, and dessert (take out available).

On Saturday, February 14th – Valentine’s Day – youth activities start at 11 am and, include sledding, a balloon chase, and sack races.  At noon there will be a co-ed Frying Pan Toss with cash prizes. Ongoing in the afternoon will be Ice Golf, Captain and Crew with cash prizes. Registration will take place at the Raquette Lake Library.  Round out the day by warming up at the bonfire and the annual tug-o-war. Fireworks at will be shortly after sunset.

On Sunday, February 15th, from 9 am  to 12 pm the Raquette Lake Ladies Auxiliary is sponsoring a $7 all you can eat Pancake Breakfast at the Raquette Lake Fire Hall.   At Noon on Sunday the indubitable Cross-Cut / Chainsaw competition will be held on the Raquette Lake Village Green.  This long standing tradition includes men’s, women’s and mixed divisions.

Also on Sunday, at 1pm there will be a Snowshoe Trek at Great Camp Sagamore.  This  3.5 mile snow shoeing hike around Sagamore Lake will led by staff members.  Meet by the tour parking lot, (take a left at the fork at the end of the road).  Bring your own snowshoes.

Cookie donations are requested for Saturday, February 14th (cookie drop off is at the Raquette Lake Library).  As in years past the Raquette Lake Library will be open for Hot Chocolate, Cookies and warmth all day on Saturday.
