Adk Park Institute To Fete Wilderness 50th Organizers

Wilderness 50thThe Adirondack Park Institute (API) will be holding a drawing for a 12-foot Hornbeck New Trick Canoe at its annual Awards Dinner and Gala, which will take place on Friday, September 18, 2015 at the Adirondack Hotel in Long Lake, NY.

This year’s Awards dinner will honor The Nelson A. Rockefeller Institute of Government and Adirondack WILD for their partnership in commemorating New York State’s role in inspiring the National Wilderness Preservation System Act of 1964.

The canoe, now on display at the Adirondack Interpretive Center (AIC) in Newcomb, was handcrafted in the Hornbeck Boatshop in Olmstedville, NY. It weighs a mere 15 pounds and retails for $1695.00.

Ticket prices are 1 for $5.00, 3 for $10 or 10 for $20.00. Tickets are available at the AIC in Newcomb, at the Adirondack Hotel the evening of the Gala or interested parties may call the API office at (518) 582-3376.

Proceeds from this drawing will be used to support environmental education programs for children and families at the AIC and at other Adirondack venues.
