Art in the Adirondacks This Week (Oct 5)

AITA_NewsletterHeaderHere is a sampling of interesting art events in the Adirondacks this week.

On Monday, October 5th, the Roads and Rails Exhibition at the Adirondack Museum continues with staff-led tours that offer a brief overview of the 1969 exhibition, with stops at perennial favorites including the hearse, peddler’s wagon, snow roller, blacksmith shop, mail sleigh, Teddy Roosevelt surrey, Litchfield sleigh, White Mountain stagecoach, Pullman car, and Model T Jezebel.  For more information visit adirondackmuseum.org

On Wednesday, October 7th, View Old Forge starts their Classic Movie Night at 5:00 pm. They are going to be playing some of the most beloved movies from Hollywood history every Wednesday night. For more information visit viewarts.org

Also on Wednesday, The Lake Placid Center for the Arts (LPCA) will present the infectious lunacy and musical mash-ups from YouTube sensations Igudesman & Joo in an extraordinary Classics-shredding performance at 7:00 PM. Visit lakelacidarts.org for more information.

On Thursday, October 8th, The Lower Adirondack Regional Arts Council (LARAC) invites artists, arts enthusiasts, and members of the community to be a part of their annual Show and Share Potluck. This event will be held from 6-8 pm at LARAC’s Lapham Gallery, located at 7 Lapham Place in Glens Falls, NY. Visit larac.org to learn more.

On Friday, the 9th of October, Photosho 2015 kicks off in Keene at the Fire Department on Route 9N. The East Branch Friends of the Arts are presenting an exhibition of photographs by local artists that will start with an opening reception from 5-9 pm and then an all day exhibit from 10-5 on the 10th. On Saturday the 10th, Gore Mountain has their Harvest Fest featuring local artisans & vendors, kid’s activities, hearty fall food & drink and live entertainment. Visit goremountain.com for more information.

Finally on the weekend, you can check out the Wassa Pan Africa Dance Ensemble at LPCA, The Power of Great Fiction Writing at View Old Forge, and Farm to Table Tasting & The Winter’s Tale at the Seagle Music Colony – just some of the other events happening in the region.
