Hamilton County’s Watch Hill Trail Marked

View from Watch Hill Trail, Hamilton CountyThe 1.6-mile Watch Hill Trail has been newly designated, signed and marked. The trail is located in the Jessup River Wild Forest off State Route 30 between the Hamilton County communities of Speculator and Indian Lake.

The trailhead is located on the east side of State Route 30 near Griffin Brook approximately 1 mile south of the Snowy Mountain Trailhead.

Watch Hill Trail, Hamilton County - DEC MapThe trail ascends 1.1 mile and 380 feet to the pinnacle of the hill before descending 0.5 mile and 480 feet to the shores of Indian Lake.

There are two locations near the top of the descent to the shore that provide scenic views of the lake and surrounding mountains and forests.

    finally .,., we’ve been close to following the adk book directions many times passing through.

    the Lewey/Indian Lakes area is our favorite destination in all seasons .,., now, how about a good marked trail down along the Jessup off 30!!! again, our adk book hints at a trail, but we never find the way to the falls at the lake.

    happy hiking and paddling and SOON.,.,skiing all these trails
