Registration is now open for the Go Girls Outdoors program with Olympic Athlete Annelies Cook at Dewey Mountain. The program, aimed at getting girls outdoors, having fun as a group, and empowering them to choose a healthy, active lifestyles, will be expanded this summer to create opportunities for different age groups.
New sessions for older girls will add a little more challenge and include “training” specific opportunities. The program sessions will be held in July and August and will alternate 2-week sessions for girls 10-13 years old and girls 14-16 years old. Participants participate in hiking, paddling, running, biathlon, yoga activities and more with their peers.
Also new this year, a Go Ladies Outdoors program will be led by Cook. These sessions aim to help motivate and teach women about training and exercising and help them to get in shape for an event or for themselves. They will be held in July, August, and the first half of September.
The Go Girls program schedule and registration information can be found here.
The program is also looking for help in purchasing equipment for the Go Girls and Go Ladies programs. They have created an Adirondack Gives online fundraising campaign here.
