I joined my hometown paper, The Watertown Daily Times, a week after high school graduation. Weeks later, I was covering the dedication of the Road & Rail Transportation Building at the Adirondack Museum. After Harold K. Hochschild gave Gov. Nelson Rockefeller a tour of the museum, I met them. I didn’t see a program, so I learned only later Hochschild’s decadeslong involvement in the Adirondacks, since 1905.
