The Courtyard Marriott hotel in the village of Lake George opened Monday, August 29, 2016. The six-story, 119-room hotel drew controversy during the planning process, when the village changed their zoning laws to accommodate the size of the building on Main Street. Courtyard Lake George is owned by Marriott International and operated by Urgo Hotels & Resorts.
The building also includes a bar and restaurant with outdoor seating. A rooftop terrace is expected to open later this year, and two ballrooms, each designed for 400 guests, with nearly 5,000 square feet of space each, are expected to open in 2017.
Courtyard Lake George is being managed by General Manager Taylor Hall. Hall, a certified sommelier from the International Wine Guild, has worked most recently at Fort Lauderdale Marriott Pompano Beach Resort & Spa in Florida. Hall is joined by Director of Sales and Marketing Melissa Carter, who joined Courtyard Lake George from Radisson Hotel Albany, where she served as sales manager.
Courtyard Lake George is located at 365 Canada Street, in Lake George Village.

It is so out of scale of that section of Lake George. What a shame.
Not much real controversy here. Perhaps some back-and-forth during the initial planning, but not too much recently.
In any case, Lake George Village is already a festering sore at the southern end of one of the most beautiful lakes in the country. Better to keep the damage contained in a relatively concentrated spot than to allow expansion throughout the region. For what it’s worth, a new facility classes-up some pretty run down vacation digs in LGV.
