Winter Carnival Reception, Royalty Dinner, New Button

2016 grand marshal and royaltyThe Saranac Lake Winter Carnival Committee has invited the public to the Grand Marshal Reception and Royalty Dinner on Tuesday, February 7 at the Red Fox Restaurant located at 5034 Route 3 in Saranac Lake.

The Grand Marshal Reception will be held from 5 pm to 6 pm and is a free event to welcome the 2017 Winter Carnival Grand Marshal and Royalty. Snacks will be served and a cash bar will be available.

The Royalty Dinner will follow the reception from 6 to 9 pm and is by reservation only. To make a reservation contact Milt Adams at (518) 891-4367. Reservations are required before January 31. There is a cost depending on the age of the attendee. Payment should be made by check payable to the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival Committee and must be received prior to the dinner. Checks should be mailed to Milt Adams, 680 County Route 18, Lake Clear, NY 12945.

The dinner will be plated therefore a meal choice must be made upon reservation. Adult dinner choices are chicken parmesan, pasta primavera or stuffed sole and include soup, salad, coffee/tea and dessert for $35. Child (ages 6-12) dinner choices are chicken parmesan or spaghetti and meatballs and include soup or salad, a drink and dessert for $17.50. A spaghetti and meatball dinner is provided at no cost for children ages 6 and under.

All proceeds from the Royalty Dinner benefit the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival.

Winter Carnival Button Design

winter carnival button“Doonesbury” cartoonist Garry Trudeau has released his button design for the 2017 Saranac Lake Winter Carnival. Using the Winter Carnival’s designated theme “Adirondack Wildlife,” Trudeau’s illustration shows “Doonesbury” character Zonker holding a canoe paddle with a wildlife scene in the background. Trudeau, who was raised in Saranac Lake, has created the Winter Carnival button design since 1981 to benefit the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival.

The button costs $4 and is now available at merchants throughout Saranac Lake and Bloomingdale. The merchants selling buttons in Saranac Lake are: Ace Hardware, Adirondack Bank (Main Street and Church Street), Adirondack Daily Enterprise, Adirondack Wine & Liquor, Amanda’s Village Motel, Ampersound, Bear Essentials Apparel, Belvedere Restaurant, Blue Line Sports, Blue Moon Cafe, Community Bank (Lake Flower Avenue and Broadway), Eco Living, Fusion Market, Goody Goody’s, Hyde’s Nice N Easy (Lake Flower Avenue and Broadway), Janie’s For Hair, K&E Enterprises, Key Bank (Main Street), Kinney Drugs, Lakeview Deli, McKenzie’s Grille, Moose Maple Books & More, NBT Bank, Post Office Pharmacy, Rice Furniture, Saranac Lake Adult Center, Saranac Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, Saranac Lake Wine & Liquor, Saranac Village at Will Rogers, TOPS Friendly Markets (Church Street and Lake Flower Avenue). The merchant selling buttons in Bloomingdale is Bloomin’ Market.

Buttons will also be sold during Winter Carnival at its headquarters located at the Saranac Lake Area Chamber of Commerce (193 River St.) and available through mail order by sending a check payable to Saranac Lake Winter Carnival Committee to Barb Martin, 230 Broadway, Saranac Lake, NY 12983. There is an additional cost for shipping based on quantity of buttons ordered: 1-5 – $3, 6-9 – $5, 10 or more – $7.
