6th Annual Caroga Lake Music Festival Season Announced

barge concertShowcasing over sixty-five professional musicians from around the world, the Caroga Arts Collective has announced the Caroga Lake Music Festival (CLMF) 2017 Season Concert Schedule from July 17 to August 20.

Now in it’s sixth season, the multi-genre programming ranges from classical to jazz to contemporary music and from small ensembles to chamber orchestras. With most concerts free, CLMF performs in Caroga Lake, NY, and places beyond, such as Canajoharie, Cobleskill, Johnstown, Mayfield, Schenectady, and Freeport, Maine.

CLMF resident artists include nationally acclaimed, award-winning musicians who have appeared on National Public Radio and ABC’s Good Morning America, as well as Grammy Award-winning bassist Geoffrey Saunders, YouTube violin sensation David Wong, MAMA award-winning vocalist Lo Marie and Swiss-Armenian conductor Maestro Luc Baghdassarian who conducted on CLMF’s Switzerland Tour this May.

The festival is expecting five special guest artists in the 2017 season: David Cook Jazz Trio (Music Director for Taylor Swift, etc.), vocalist Chris Jamison (Finalist from NBC’s The Voice), cellist Mike Block (Silk Road Ensemble), J-Music Pocket Band (“J-Pop meets jazz”, NYC) and Jason Anick Trio (Gypsy jazz swing).

In addition to concerts, the festival offers the CLMF Camp at Paul Nigra Center for Creative Arts in Gloversville, NY. The three day program is open to musicians of all ages and abilities. Participants will have the experience of playing chamber music, partaking in educational workshops, and performing at the finale concert featuring the CLMF artists on July 26 at 3 pm at Paul Nigra Center. Also new this year, the festival will host the CLMF Open House Orchestra on August 3 at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Johnstown. Inviting all local instrumentalists of all ages, the CLMF Open House Orchestra is an opportunity for community members to perform alongside CLMF musicians.
