The Lake Placid Curling Club are planning an Olympic Challenge to coincide with the 2018 Winter Olympic Games, on February 18th.
The event will include curling instruction, a friendly game, and a social at the Hotel Saranac. No experience necessary.
The challenge runs from 3:15 to 6 pm at the Saranac Lake Civic Center, 225 Ampersand Ave, Saranac Lake. It will start with on and off ice training. Then participants will then hit the ice in teams of four, and play a curling game.
Afterward, The Hotel Saranac will host a curling social with Olympic-themed drinks and a “watch curling with curlers”. Curling club members will be available to answer any questions about curling while watching an Olympic game at the hotel.
Space is limited, click here to register. For more information email Carrie Gentile at carriegentile@hotmail.com. Cost is $25 per person.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a clean pair of rubber soled tennis shoes to change into at the club. Wear loose fitting, stretchy clothing. Jeans are not recommended as they may restrict leg movement. Dress in layers. The air temperature on the ice is around 40 degrees, but can get as low as 32 degrees depending on the outdoor temperature.
