The pairings for the 2018 ECAC Men’s Hockey Championship weekend have been set for Friday and Saturday, March 16-17, at the 1980 Rink-Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid.
Top-seeded Cornell skates into Lake Placid to face the seventh seed Princeton Tigers in the first semifinal game. The two teams met twice during the 2017-‘18 regular-season with the Big Red winning both contests by scores of 5-4 and 7-1. The last time the two teams faced one another during in the semifinal round of the league’s postseason tournament was in 2009 when Cornell edged Princeton, 4-3, in double overtime. The Tigers are currently riding a six-game unbeaten streak (5-0-1).
Harvard will make its fourth straight appearance at championship weekend as the defending Whitelaw Cup champions take on No. 3-seed Clarkson, which makes its first appearance at championship weekend since 2007. The two teams skated to a thrilling, 6-6, overtime tie in their first this season and Harvard earned a 5-2, victory over the Golden Knights last month.
