The Adirondack Park Agency (APA) and the Lake George Park Commission (LGPC) has announced they are holding a joint public comment period to solicit comments for the Lake George Battlefield Park Unit Management Plan.

Public comment will be accepted until May 3, 2018.

The Lake George Park Commission is proposing to build a new structure to house their administrative offices and serve as a Historical Visitor Interpretive Center. The facility would be located on Fort George Road in the Village of Lake George, Warren County. According to the Lake George Park Commission, the existing structure was designed as a residential house and does not properly serve their needs and is highly energy inefficient.

A new Lake George Visitor Interpretive Center (LGVIC) could occupy the entire basement floor of the new building. There will be a walk-out basement style separate entrance which faces the Park’s fields and attractions such as the Father St. Joques monument and the statues across Fort George Road. The LGVIC is proposing using educational displays, panels and artifacts to tell the story of the history of the Lake George Battlefield Park and related historic events in the Lake George region.
