The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has announced ‘I Love My Park Day’ stewardship events have been set for Saturday, May 5 at five locations across the Adirondacks.
Locations include:
· Ausable Point Campground & Day Use Area: Lake Shore Road, Peru NY, 9 am to 1 pm. Projects include; helping install new playground equipment, spring cleanup, and tree planting.
· Crown Point Campground & Day Use Area: Bridge Road, Crown Point NY, 9 am to 1 pm. Projects include; spring cleanup and tree planting.
· Fish Creek Pond Campground & Day Use Area: State Route 30, Saranac Lake NY, 9 am to 1 pm. Projects include; spring cleanup and tree planting.
· Lewey Lake Campground & Day Use Area: Route 30N, Lake Pleasant NY, 9 am to 3 pm. Projects include; Spring clean-up and tree removal.
· Northampton Beach Campground & Day Use Area: Houseman Street, Mayfield NY, 8 am to 3 pm. Projects include; spring clean-up, removing down tree limbs, and removal of debris along shoreline.
· Paradox Lake Campground & Day Use Area: State Route 74, Paradox NY, 9 am to 1 pm. Projects include; spring cleanup and tree planting.
Volunteers of all ages are welcome. Attendees are encouraged to bring garden or work gloves, water, snacks, insect repellent, and sunscreen.
The DEC operates 43 campgrounds within the Adirondack Park providing a wide variety of experiences, including island camping, tent and trailer camping, boat launching facilities, hiking trails, beaches and day use areas with picnic tables and grills. Help keep these special places beautiful by participating in I Love My Park Day.
This year marks the 7th annual I Love My Park Day event organized by Parks & Trails New York in partnership with the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, and DEC.
