36th Tupper Tinman Triathlon Set For June 23

The 36th Annual Tupper Lake Tinman Triathlon has been set for Saturday, June 23rd.

The Tupper Lake Tinman Triathlon is sanctioned by USA Triathlon, the national governing body for the sports of triathlon, duathlon, winter triathlon, and aquathlon.

The Tinman offers five types of races: Tinman (1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, 13.1 mile run); Aquabike (1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike); Team Relay (1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, 13.1 mile run); Olympic (0.94 mile swim, 24 mile bike, 6.2 mile run); and a Sprint (0.6 mile swim, 12.4 mile bike, 3.1 mile run).

The first of the races begins at 8 am, and in addition to the competitions the day offers live music from noon to 4 pm at the pavilion, a beer tent, and food throughout the day.

To date, 501 people have registered for this year’s race. The 2017 race drew 633 competitors, and the 2016 iteration saw 538, compared with 390 entrants in 2015, and 375 in 2014.

The race is sponsored by the Tupper Lake Chamber of Commerce, with the help of volunteers.
