Skip Baker Memorial Supports Horses-Vets Program

skip bakerThe inaugural Skip Baker Memorial Fundraising Hike, benefiting the Equicenter Heroes and Horses Veterans Program, has been set for Saturday, August 11th.

In the summer of 2017, Ralph ‘Skip’ Baker lost his life while hiking in the High Peaks. Baker was a 26-year Air Force veteran who spent his retirement volunteering at the Equicenter in Honeoye NY, a non-profit organization.

The Equicenter mission is to “foster the personal growth and individual achievement of people with disabilities, at-risk youth, veterans, and their families using a wide range of therapeutic equestrian and related programs.” While volunteering at the Equicenter, Skip helped develop the Heroes for Horses program for veterans.

To honor Skip and raise funds for the program, TMax-n-Topo’s Hostel and the Equicenter, are encouraging the public to go on a hike during the day, and then stop at the hostel just outside the Lake Placid Village after 5 pm to share their experiences. Snacks will be provided, participants can bring a dish to share if they wish.
