APA Chair Sherman Craig Retiring

APA Building in Ray Brook NYAt the July 2018 Agency meeting, Chair Sherman Craig announced his retirement from the Adirondack Park Agency (APA) Board.

Craig led the APA through the 2016/17 Classification Package involving the Boreas Ponds Tract, numerous unit management plans, the redesign of the APA’s large-scale subdivision and variance applications, and passage of the Health and Safety Land Account Amendment in November 2017.

A announcement from APA said that State Land Committee Chair Karen Feldman, a Commissioner from Columbia County, will serve as Acting Chair. Feldman was appointed to the Agency in June 2013. She is a retired attorney with 35 years of legal experience in corporate, real estate, entertainment and sports matters.

Sherman Craig’s term marked the first appointment of an APA Board Member from St. Lawrence County. Governor Andrew Cuomo appointed him to the Board in November 2011 and selected him to serve as Chair in July 2016. Prior to holding the position of Chair, Craig served as the Chair of the Regulatory Programs and the Park Policy and Planning Committees.
