Cornell Cooperative Extension of Warren County is set to host a Food Preservation Series which will include making jams and jellies, and salsa, and address fermentation and pickling, and making jerky.
Jam and Jelly Making will be held on August 5th from 1:30 to 4 pm. This class will cover food safety skills (a must when preserving food), and several methods of jam and jelly making. Each participant will bring home a jar of jam or jelly. Cost is $15.
Salsa Making will be held on August 19th from 1:30 to 4 pm. During this interactive class, participants will make several types of salsa, including refrigerator salsa and hot water bath canned salsa. Each participant will bring home a jar of salsa. Cost is $15.
Fermentation and Pickling will be held on September 16th from 1:30 to 4 pm. Pickling and fermentation are popular methods of preserving food and bringing out lovely flavors in vegetables and other items. During this interactive class, participants will learn about methods of pickling and fermentation, and will make different types of pickles. Each participant will bring home a jar of pickles. Cost is $15.
Jerky! Will be held on September 30th from 1:30 to 4 pm. In this class, participants will learn about and safely make several types of delicious jerky, including both meat and vegan jerky. Pre-made jerky will be available for sampling. Cost is $10.
All programs will be held at the Cornell Cooperative Extension office on 377 Schroon River Road, Warrensburg.
