The Town of Long Lake is set to celebrate President’s Week with daily winter activities and events.
Kicking off the schedule is a Kids Movie Night at the Town Hall on Friday the 15th, with transportation to and from provided by the Town. Call (518) 624-3077 to sign up, pick up will begin around 4 pm, with drop occurring directly following the movie.
Over the weekend Raquette Lake will hold their annual Winter Carnival (February 16-17). Fun for all ages, the Carnival features ice golf, a ladies frying pan toss, tug o’ war, and more. The day begins at 11 am, with ae magic show at 2 pm in the Raquette Lake Library. The Crosscut and Chainsaw competitions are set for Sunday, starting at noon.
Monday the 18th the Town of Long Lake will be offering a Snowmobile Safety course in the Town Hall from 9 am to 5 pm. There are limited spaces available, so sign up early by calling (518) 624-3077. Lunch provided by the Town of Long Lake.
Tuesday’s destination is Oak Mountain in Speculator for an afternoon of snow tubing with lunch provided by the Town of Long Lake. Transportation is available on the Little Bus, leaving at 10 am, sign up by calling (518) 624-3077.
Wednesday’s cure for cabin fever is a Kids’ Art Class hosted by local artist and Incapahco Studios owner Louisa at the Town Hall starting at 11 am. Kids will have the opportunity for hands on instruction with a local artist, and supplies, tools and materials will be provided. Sign up is highly encouraged, by calling (518) 624-3077.
Trivia Night will be held at the Long View Lodge on Wednesday the 6th.
Those looking for a little winter exercise can meet at the Geiger Arena on Thursday at 11 am for a semi-guided Nordic ski around Long Lake. Skis can be procured through Hoss’s Country Corner or the ADK Trading Post, and all ability levels are welcome. Rentals and tour are free, and sponsored by the Town of Long Lake.
Friday the 22nd is the return of the Hors D’Oeuvres Tour starting at 5 pm. The Little Bus will be running to ferry everyone between the participating businesses, and tickets must be purchased ahead of time online, or by calling (518) 624-3077.
