Abenaki Language Weekend at Ndakinna

Jesse Bruchac giving Abenaki lessonsThe Ndakinna Education Center at Greenfield Center (in Saratoga County, just outside the Adirondack Park) has announced a Abenaki Language Weekend set for April 5-7th, 2019.

Jesse Bruchac and Elie Joubert will teach all levels and ages the basics of the Abenaki language, some conversational Abenaki, language learning games, songs, dances and other creative interactive indoor and outdoor activities.

An opening session will kick off the language classes starting at 6 pm Friday evening, and runs to 8 pm. Starting at 9 am Saturday, two hour sessions will take place in the morning, afternoon, and evening. Class times are 9-11 am, 1-2 pm, 4-6, 8-9 pm. One final Sunday morning session will conclude the weekend, starting at 8 am and wrapping at 10 am.

Light refreshments will be provided, bring appropriate clothing for the outdoors, and a bag lunch/dinner, or a dish for a potluck style meal.

This class is donation based, and free and open to the public. Organizers have a suggested donation of $150 for the entire weekend. Donations help to pay for refreshments, utilities and heating costs for the event. For more information, click here.
