Students are invited to submit films before the April 10th deadline of the Beyond the Peaks Student Film Festival.
This event is designed to offer a red carpet showcase of student creativity and talent. All middle school and high school-aged students in the Adirondack region are eligible to enter films and win prizes. Community members are welcome to register to attend the festival as well, free of charge.
The festival, being organized by AdkAction and Tupper Lake Central School District, is set for May 10, 2019, from 5 to 8 pm at The Wild Center in Tupper Lake.
Organizers say film making is an important artistic discipline that is underrepresented in rural America and they are hoping to create and expand opportunities for young people in the Adirondacks interested in film making or other forms of digital storytelling.
Registration is free and open to participating students, their parents, teachers, and the community at large. Due to limited seating capacity, registration is required for all attendees.
