The Whallonsburg Grange Hall in Essex is set to welcome science educator and author Dr. Curt Stager to its Lyceum lecture series on Sunday, March 31 at 3 pm.
Dr. Stager’s topic comes from his most recent book and his research into lakes around the world, from the Adirondacks to Siberia. His talk, “Still Waters: A Deeper Look at Walden Pond,” will focus on this iconic lake – its history, ecosystems, and the impact of humans on it.
Curt Stager is an ecologist, paleoclimatologist, and science journalist. He has written extensively for general audiences in periodicals such as National Geographic, The New York Times, and Adirondack Life. Since 1990, he has also co-hosted Natural Selections, a weekly science program on North Country Public Radio. His most recent book is Still Waters: The Secret World of Lakes. He teaches at Paul Smiths College.
Admission is a $5 donation, students free. The Grange is at 1610 NYS Route 22 in Essex, NY (corner of Whallons Bay Road). More information is available on their website, or by calling (518) 963-7777.
