The Timberlock Trekkers Summer Program for older teens (ages 15-16) has announced two weeks of backcountry canoeing and backpacking with several days of project work in collaboration with the Northern Forest Canoe Trail, set for Sunday, July 28th, through Saturday, August 10th, 2019, at the Timberlock Resort in Indian Lake.
This co-ed Trekkers program is led by a team of experienced wilderness leaders and is based out of the 100-year-old Timberlock Resort on Indian Lake, the Trekker teens will spend several days in a lakeside cabin planning and packing before heading into the backcountry.
During the trip, the group will also focus on a several-day community service project for the Northern Forest Canoe Trail building and maintaining the Browns Tract canoe portage between the Fulton Chain of Lakes and Raquette Lake in the Adirondack Park.
Trekkers will be able to hone both their outdoor and group collaboration skills with the added opportunity for developing a better self-awareness and confidence working as a team, while learning to respect and help maintain resources in our natural world.
