View Arts Center in Old Forge is set to host a basketry workshop. Participants can make and leave with a staple tradition of the Adirondacks: the pack basket. This class is set for August 21 from 9 am to 5 pm.

This class will be taught by Linda Scherz. Weaving baskets for more than 30 years, Scherz is a highly skilled artisan and teacher. In this one-day workshop, participants will learn to weave a 14″ traditional Adirondack pack basket ready for their next hiking or canoe trip. All materials and tools will be provided.

Cost of this workshop is $170 for guests and $155 for View members. If participants choose to adorn their basket with a leather harness, cost of the class is $195 for guests and $180 for View members.
