Historic Saranac Lake (HSL) is set to host a public meeting to gather input for the expansion of the history museum for the Saranac Lake Region on Wednesday, July 17, from 6 to 7:30 pm.
The public is invited to share their vision for the new expanded museum campus on the corner of Church and Main Streets in Saranac Lake.
This spring, HSL purchased the former home and medical office of Dr. E. L. Trudeau at 118 Main Street. The building is expected to undergo major rehabilitation in order to bring it back to the time period of Trudeau and complement HSL’s existing museum in Dr. Trudeau’s laboratory on Church Street.
Professional museum planner Kate Cravens will be leading the meeting as part of a week-long consultation with HSL in order to develop an interpretive plan for both museum buildings. Cravens currently works as a private consultant in Minnesota, and she has years of experience planning projects. For 11 years she was Director of Interpretation at the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in Saratoga.
According to an announcement sent ot the press, HSL has raised over $850,000 towards the total $2 million project cost.
The meeting will be held at the Harrietstown Town Hall, 39 Main St, Saranac Lake. To reserve a spot, call Historic Saranac Lake at (518) 891-4606 or email [email protected]
