The Clinton County Historical Association has announced the program Fort Montgomery: The Truth is Stranger than the Myths, with local author and historian James Millard, set for Thursday, September 19, 6:30 pm, at the Plattsburgh Memorial Chapel, Old Base Museum Campus in Plattsburgh.
The story of the ruins just north of the bridge at Rouses Point is strange. Local historian James P. Millard will discuss the history of Fort Montgomery and those surrounding the infamous Fort “Blunder” story.
Millard is the publisher of the award-winning America’s Historic Lakes website and author of Fort Montgomery Through the Years, Lake Passages – A Journey through the Centuries, The Secrets of Crab Island, and Bastions on the Border. His books are available for purchase at the Clinton County Historical Association Museum and will be available Thursday night.
The CCHA Museum on the Old Base Museum Campus is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm. More information is available on the museum website, or by calling (518) 561-0340. Museum admission is free and donations are accepted.
