tauny open houseTAUNY’s Annual Holiday Open House has been set for Saturday, December 7th from 10 am to 2 pm. The public is invited to enjoy the Sugar & Spice Gingerbread Contest and Display, seasonal treats, live music, kids’ activities, and fun for the whole family. This event is free and open to the public.

Northern and Southern old-time music will be performed by Possumbilities, Nicholfalls, and The Daveys. Kitchen demonstrations will include dumpling-making with Margaret Chang of Sweet Margaret Cafe and more. There will also be a variety of children’s activities and sweet treats to enjoy throughout the day.

The first Sugar & Spice Gingerbread Contest and Display, one of TAUNY’s most popular programs, was in 2002. The theme for this year’s competition, “On the Farm,” is a tribute to the agricultural aspects of the region. The Gingerbread Display will open at The TAUNY Center on December 7th and award winners in each category will be announced that day. Visitors can see the gingerbread creations on display and vote for the People’s Choice Award through December 21st.

Open House guests will also have the opportunity to shop in The North Country Folkstore that day and purchase new, locally-made items in the Folkstore Holiday Showcase.

The 2019 Sugar & Spice Gingerbread Contest and Display and the Holiday Open House are supported by underwriting from Stewart’s Shops.

The TAUNY Center and North Country Folkstore are located at 53 Main Street, Downtown Canton. More information is available on their website.
