Empire State Games’ Adirondack Torch Relay Stops

eswg logoA torch relay route from Manhattan to Lake Placid to kick off the 40th Annual Empire State Winter Games (ESWG) began Sunday and will arrive in the Adirondack region on Thursday. The 2020 Games will be held January 30-February 2.

The relay will end with the lighting of the cauldron in Lake Placid. There is another torch relay route from Western New York to Lake Placid, running simultaneously.

The following is the schedule for the torch relay on Thursday:

8:30 am – Ticonderoga, Community Bank
11:30 am – Elizabethtown (Stop location TBD)
2:30 pm – Tupper Lake Civic Center
3 pm – Saranac Lake, Community Bank
4:30 pm – Lake Placid, Community Bank and Main Street

The relay team will join professional and amateur athletes, some of whom have competed in the ESWG and Olympic Games, as well as state government representatives and local dignitaries, in carrying the torch.
