With temperatures hovering around 11 degrees all day long, new visitors, second homeowners and local residents turned out for the Long Lake 18th Annual Winter Carnival at the Mt. Sabattis Recreation Center.
As the day progressed the snow started to fall, adding to the collective outdoor wintry experience for the visitors. The Long Lake Parks and Recreation Department hosted the event and coordinated all the races and activities.
Events kicked-off with the coronation of the Moonlighters Snowmobile Club King and Queen, Eddie and Kitsy Rockstroh from Clifton Park and Long Lake. Other events played out throughout the day including an ice sculpture park by the Ice Farm of Auburn, NY installing a variety of pieces, including the Long Lake Selfie Board featuring fur trappers and a carving of Owls Head Mountain and the iconic Fire Tower.
The Long Lake Fire Department served a complimentary lunch throughout the day from inside the Geiger Arena warming hut.
The day ended with a bonfire and fireworks, followed up with Live Music at area venues.
