As we move closer to summer, many attractions that were closed last summer are looking ahead to reopening this year. Same goes with the many annual events that people have come to expect throughout the summer and fall months.
For example, The Wild Center in Tupper Lake. While they have been open, visitors have been limited to outdoor attractions such as the Wild Walk. The facility will close for maintenance in April and reopening in May. The museum will remain an outdoor experience through June and reopen on July 1.

I think your site is very informative.
Thank you for these updates.
Why would the State close Cobble Lookout which is a kid friendly short hike and still leave Cascade MTN open?? I see 10-15 cars their every weekend when I go to survey falcons nesting. Is the State afraid to close a high peak?? What BS
Most of Cobble is on private land.
Cobble lookout is in Wilmington. It is open.
Cobble mtn in lake placid is currently closed because parts of the trail are on private land
Thank you for this information!
Janet
Great Camp Sagamore’s website says it is delaying opening until July 2020. This website says it is ‘closed’. Which is more accurate please?
We received info via email from the GCS yesterday. Must be they haven’t updated their website. I just sent a message to make sure/double check.
thanks!
Sorry about the delay in replying…Sagamore’s website is now updated to reflect their closing.
There is an error in the report. The trail to Cobble Hill in Lake Placid is closed. This trail crosses Northwood School property. The Cobble Lookout Trail in Wilmington is open.
Whoops, too much going on. Great catch and thanks for calling it out. All fixed!
We have a camp on 3rd lake and we launch our boat in Hollywood hills and 1st lake is that still open? What is it
Is that a private or public launch?
It’s a private launch
Then you should be good to go….might want to double check with them first, however, just in case.
Thank you so much for your information I really appreciate it
If it’s NOT a NYS/DEC campground can they still open?
Not until social distancing order is lifted….
Thank You….Stay Safe…
Will Lake George entertainment on Canada st be closed around may 15?
Hi Traci, all nonessential businesses are closed through May 15, and possibly longer, depending on the State’s next steps.
Will lake Harris campground be opening.
At this point, we can only hope campgrounds will be opening on schedule. Will depend on when social distancing restrictions are opening back up.
NYS campgrounds are currently open.
Yup, have it under “openings”…thanks!
The Lake George Steamboat Company opens for the season today, 6/13.
Thanks for the head’s up!
You’re welcome!
Curious about the reasoning behind not allowing new reservations to be made once it has been decided a campground can be opened? I’ve been camping on Narrow Island for years; but looks like i’ll be locked out this year. Very frustrating for a resident camper who lives less than 20 miles from the campground. Also curious about the perceived threat of virus spread on island campsites; which are spread farther apart and have dedicated outhouses?
What about airborne and Mohawk Raceway when are we able to go to tracks watch racing
Is the Wild Center in Tupper Lake open ? I’ve read about just the outside visits are o.k.; but is the Museum actually open to the public ?
Good question Bob. Last I knew, only the outdoors stuff was open, but will check and see if anything’s changed.
