COVID Exposure at Golden Beach Campground in Raquette Lake

coronavirusFrom Erica Mahoney, Director of Public Health for Hamilton County:

Two individuals who were staying at Golden Beach Campground in Raquette Lake, NY have tested positive for COVID-19. The couple checked into the campground on Saturday, Aug. 15 and stayed through the morning of Thursday, Aug. 20. These individuals are no longer at the campground, contact tracing is complete and those who were at high risk of exposure have been contacted.

If you were at the campground during these dates, and had contact with the campground registration booth and other common areas including bathrooms and shower buildings, you may have been exposed and may want to consider getting tested. In any event, you protect your friends, families, and others by continuing to follow the guidelines for the wearing of masks, hand washing, and social distancing.

These positive cases did visit several businesses in the Raquette Lake community on August 15, 2020 and August 18, 2020, as well as the Inlet community on August 16, 2020, and the Old Forge community on August 17, 2020. The individuals did wear masks and practiced social distancing while in public, therefore the risk of exposure is low.

If you develop symptoms or would like to arrange for COVID-19 testing, please contact the Hamilton County Health Department at 518-648-6141 between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:30 pm, or contact your local health department.
