Clarkson University, a world leader in advanced materials research and STEM education, and Clinton  Community College (CCC) and its Institute for Advanced Manufacturing in Plattsburgh, NY, a regional  hub for advanced manufacturing education and training programs have joined forces to conduct  research pertaining to the use of Advanced Manufacturing technologies and to strengthen workforce  training and education for regional industries.

Organized in partnership with the North Country Chamber of Commerce, a ceremony Tuesday, July 27 marking the  signing of an MOU shared how the two institutions will work together to identify and solicit funding  opportunities to support mutually beneficial education and training programs, including credentialing,  certificate, or badge programs, designed to support the needs of regional industries for workforce  development in the field of advanced and/or innovative manufacturing.

“The North Country offers an incredible quality of life to families living in our region and has a workforce  ready for the additional job training and workforce development in advanced additive manufacturing  technologies that companies need today,” said Tony Collins, President of Clarkson University. “Clarkson  University’s partnership with Clinton Community College supports a future-ready workforce as well as  engages and attracts companies that need innovation-oriented research and the applied solutions that  we can offer through CCC’s Institute for Advanced Manufacturing and Clarkson’s Center for Advanced  Materials Processing.”

Clinton Community College President Ray DiPasquale shared, “Clinton Community College is very proud  of our partnership with the North Country Chamber of Commerce and Clarkson University, our  esteemed educational partner. Our continued partnership assures our students a seamless transfer to  Clarkson and wonderful opportunities for exchanges of ideas and use of facilities amongst our faculty  and staff. We look forward to our business partners working with us as we prepare our students and  provide our manufacturing facilities with highly skilled and trained employees. Clinton Community  College has many educational partners but this signing assures the college an outstanding partnership  for today, tomorrow, and a very bright future for all with Clarkson University.”

“Clinton Community College and Clarkson University are two of our region’s most important assets in  support of advanced manufacturing,” says Garry Douglas, President of the North Country Chamber of  Commerce. “This new MOU takes collaboration between the two of them to a new level, offering some  exciting new opportunities for future students and trainees and making the Institute for Advanced  Manufacturing in Plattsburgh an even stronger hub for training and economic development.  Congratulations and thank you to both schools, and especially Presidents Tony Collins and Ray  DiPasquale and their teams, and to Joel Wood, our Director of NAmTrans, for his facilitation and  assistance. Onward and upward!”
