Hallowed Forge Pumpkin Party: A Community Halloween Celebration

The Central Adirondack Association’s Hallowed Forge Pumpkin Party is back for its third year.  Activities and celebrations throughout the community are spaced over two weekends, October 22 –24 and October 29-31 (and a few in between). There will be something festive and fall-like for everyone with offerings for families, for children and adults spaced throughout the end of October. Classics like pumpkin sports return for family fun.

Our community is famous for our welcoming and friendly atmosphere and unique businesses, and that is why families come here to make memories. Along with Adirondack Christmas on Main Street, the event is one of the ways the CAA strives to find ways to welcome visitors and develop opportunities that make sense for our small business community, and at the same time provide festive fun for our local residents.

Businesses can also consider doing something special like provide candy, host an activity or have promos to join the fun and make the community festive and welcoming – a lot like the CAA’s Christmas on Main Street event.  Herron Realty, one of the event’s sponsors will be hosting donuts and cider on their porch one afternoon.

Back by popular demand is the pumpkin throwing contest at the Old Forge Lakefront. Residents and visitors alike are invited to create contraptions for winning the pumpkin throwing contest, or just try their arm at hurling the furthest into the pond. In 2019, a hand-thrown pumpkin went further than ones thrown in a very impressive trebuchet!

A preliminary calendar of all community Halloween events will be finalized soon, visitors should feel free to check social media and website calendars for the CAA, View, the Old Forge Library and other participating organizations.

One of the perks of driving bus for the school system. I was able to drive a load of window lickers up to the event last time they held it, and it was fantastic!
