Inaugural Adirondack Quilters Conference Kicks Off Oct. 18 at View

Start collecting your fabrics and thread and saves the dates of October 18-20 for the Inaugural Adirondack Quilters Conference held at View, the Center for Arts and Culture in Old Forge.  The conference is a new addition to the annual Quilts Unlimited Exhibit and will feature a series of lectures and workshops featuring both traditional and art quilting techniques that are sure to be informative for quilters of all skill levels.

The Conference will kick off on Monday, October 18th at 5:00 pm with an Opening Reception that includes hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, and a featured lecture by Catherine Bertini entitled “A Quilt as Memories: The Goodbye Quilt,” which celebrates Bertini’s work at the United Nations as the head of the World Food Program.

The first of two full days of workshops gets underway on Tuesday, October 19th with a continental breakfast, followed by two 9:00 am classes: Pochoir Printing with Jane Davila will run from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and Happy Villages with Karen Eckmeier runs from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.  Nature Print Pastiche with Jane Davila will run from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.  Lunch will be provided for everyone enrolled in a class from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. To round out the day, a catered dinner will start at 5:00 pm, followed by a lecture by Karen Eckmeier.

Day two of workshops on October 20th, start with two more 9:00 am classes: Monoprinting on Fabric (with Gelli Plates) with Linda Stern, running from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, and Successful Scrap Quilts with Margaret Sykes form 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.  Nancy Mirman will teach Making Art Quilts Incorporating Metal and Found Objects from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.  Jane Davila will be giving a lecture during the lunchbreak, from 12:15 to 12:45 pm.

There are two ways to register for the 2021 Adirondack Quilt Conference:  Registering for the the full three day Conference is $150 and will cover all meals, lectures, and either two (2) 3-hour classes or one (1) full day class.  Participants can also simply pay for full access to a single day.  Prices for each day vary on the activities: October 18th’s fee is $25, October 19th is $125, and October 20th is $100
