Winter Wonderland Week 2022: Events slated for Long Lake and Raquette Lake Feb. 18-25

There is a little something for everyone during Winter Wonderland Week in Raquette Lake and Long Lake beginning on Friday, February 18 to Friday, February 25. The festive week kicks off with day one of Raquette Lake’s annual Winter Carnival and an 80’s-themed skate and pizza party in Long Lake on Friday, Feb. 18. Raquette Lake’s Winter Carnival is set for Feb. 18 -20 and will feature an evening concert with the Jamcrackers at the Raquette Lake Chapel, a ladies’ frying pan toss, games for kids, ice golf, a cross-cut and chainsaw competition, a bonfire and fireworks, and much more.

The fun continues all week long with a slew of community-centered activities including skating and sledding races, a cross-country ski tour, a trivia night, tubing at Oak Mountain, an hors d’oeuvres tour in Long Lake, and the return of Long Lake/Raquette Lake Winter Bingo.

The Long Lake Hors D’Oeuvres Tour is set to return on Friday, February 25. The event is sponsored by the Town of Long Lake Parks, Recreation & Tourism Department. Participants will take a free shuttle service to area restaurants to enjoy an evening out in which they will have the opportunity to sample specialty appetizers created specifically for the event and vote for the best appetizer at each location. Participating restaurants are: The Long View Lodge, The Adirondack Hotel, and The Long Lake Diner. Reservations remain open until Monday, February 21. Schedule of Events for the week of February 18-25

80’s Skate & Pizza Party
Friday, Feb. 18 at 6:30 p.m.
Location: Geiger Arena located at Town of 6, Pavillion Road in Long Lake
Guests are welcome to don their best retro duds. Prizes will be awarded for best costumes. For more information call (518) 624-3077. The rink will remain open until 10 p.m., as regularly scheduled.

Raquette Lake Winter Carnival

Tentative Schedule: February 18- 20 (Note, all times are subject to change without notice.)

Friday, Feb. 18:
6:30 p.m.: Concert with the Jamcrackers at Raquette Lake Chapel

Saturday, Feb. 19:

11 a.m.: Kids’ games

Raquette Lake Library will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Volunteers are invited to drop off cookies at the library and guests are welcome to drop in to warm up and enjoy snacks.

Noon: Ladies’ frying pan toss

2 p.m.: Ice Golf

Bonfire all day

Fireworks at dusk.

Location: Long View Lodge Restaurant located at 681 Deerland Road in Long Lake
Come test your knowledge against the Trivia Tsar for your chance to win prizes, bragging rights, and points toward the Trivia Master Cup.

Oak Mountain Tubing Trip
Thursday, Feb. 24
Location: Oak Mountain in Speculator
Enjoy an afternoon of tubing and lunch sponsored by the Town of Long Lake. Transportation will be provided, but sign up is required in order to ride the bus. Sign up by calling (518) 624-3077 no later than Feb. 18. The bus will depart from the Geiger Arena at 10:15 a.m. and return at approximately 2:30 p.m.

Long Lake announces the second Winter Wonderland Bingo Challenge highlighting activities and outdoor recreation running until March 20, the official end of winter. The winter themed bingo activity cards will be posted on Long Lake and Raquette Lake social media channels, on the official Town of Long Lake website at mylonglake.com and printed cards will be available at the Long Lake Town Office, Raquette Lake Tap Room, and libraries, post offices and area businesses starting immediately. It is free to participate.

Participants are invited to do as many activities as they can with prizes available depending on how many tasks are completed. Participants completing one row of Winter Wonderland Bingo receive a sticker, and participants completing the entire card will be entered into a grand finale prize drawing which includes merchandise from local vendors in Long Lake and Raquette Lake. How to play? Cross off activities as completed and take photos of the card showing completed tasks. Submit digital photos via email or to the uploader for prizes. Participants in the game should submit photo proof of purchase for any meals/shopping and photos of activities to longlakeevents@gmail.com or can directly use an uploader link at https://upload.crowdriff.com/lakesbingo .
