13th Annual Plein Air Paint Out Art Auction set for Sept. 3 in Old Forge

Old Forge, New York  — Looking to add a new piece to your art collection? Come to View, the Center for Arts & Culture in Old Forge, on September 3 and find your next masterpiece at the 13th Annual Plein Air Paint Out Art Auction starting at 4 p.m.

Over 40 participating artists in the 3-day Plein Air Paint Out event will donate at least one painting for the live auction. The artists will spend Thursday to Saturday moving around the Old Forge area looking for the perfect Adirondack scene to capture with their paints. Each artist may also offer consignment paintings (pay and take) that are on display starting September 1 at View and will be available for purchase from through September 3, after the auction.

There will be an Auction Preview Reception at 4 p.m. on Saturday, with the live auction starting at 5 p.m.

“All are welcome, and we suggest you come to the preview reception to look over all the paintings and decide which ones you’d most like to bid on,” said Plein Air Paint Out event chair/plein air artist Donna Stoner. “We’ll have hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar available at the auction.”

During the live auction, auctioneer John Gokey will be assisted by local gallery owner and committee member, Linda Weal, who knows many of the artists and always adds personal comments about the artist or the artwork. A favorite event of many, the Plein Air Paint Out Auction is a perfect opportunity to buy local paintings from great artists in the Central New York region. The auction environment is always exciting and entertaining, and people find deals on the perfect paintings they never knew they needed.

There is no admission fee to the reception or auction. A cash bar and light fare will be available.

“Please come, bring a friend or family, and enjoy the exciting action of a live art auction. You might also take home, for yourself or as a gift, a treasured Adirondack memory – a unique painting already framed and ready to hang in a special place. Your support benefits and encourages local artists and ensures that View will be an active art center year-round and open to all,” said Stoner.

View is located at 3273 State Route 28 in Old Forge, NY. To learn more about View programming, visit ViewArts.org, or call (315) 369-6411.

Have Ed Schaber’s paintings any value? We have several of his oil Adirondack scenes, as well as one of the only two watercolors he painted, which he sold at Eagle Mills Craft Show each fall in Broadalbin, NY. All are framed in old barnwood. He was known in the 1970’s-80’s as The ADK Artist. Thank you. The Knutsens
