Old Forge, New York – The fan-favorite Chili Bowl Luncheon celebrates its 16th year at View, the Center for Arts and Culture, on Saturday, February 18 from 12 to 3 p.m. The event will include the hand-made bowls everyone knows and loves and chili from over a dozen area restaurants. Escape winter, warm up with a delicious bowl of chili, and take home a quality piece of functional artisanal art. Choose from the variety of hundreds of beautiful, hand-crafted, ceramic bowls created by many talented local and regional potters, ranging in price from $18 to $30. Everyone who purchases a bowl will be able to try the many chili variations we have to offer. Chili can be purchased without a ceramic bowl for $10.

Chili and soups will be donated by many restaurants including ADK Dog House, DiOrio’s Supermarket, Dough a Deer Bakery, Feast and Festivities, Great Pines, Mountainside Smokehouse & Grill, North Country Market, Slickers Adirondack Tavern, The Steak House, The Woods Inn, and View will be making a number of different chilis, as well as our Ms. Hazel’s delicious Mac & Cheese. Additional restaurants are likely to contribute to the big day.

New for this year, everyone at the Chili Bowl will be able to vote for the “People’s Choice Award.” The winning restaurant will receive the coveted ceramic chili pepper trophy made by Pottery Manager Alaina Hall. The restaurant will be able to display the traveling trophy for the year and get their name engraved on the plaque before it goes back to View for next year’s Chili Bowl.

Desserts will be made by a number of volunteer bakers and will be included with the purchase of chili.

From a native Texan who really LOVES the Adirondacks, please remember: Real chili does NOT have beans of any kind! Just like the Michigan Dogs we get in Wilmington, no beans.
