ADK Unite to raise funds for ADK food pantries starting May 1

Saranac Lake, NY – ADK Unite, an annual running, walking and bicycling event that raises funds for community food pantries, is back for 2023 with some fun new ways for people of all ages to participate. Since 2020, the virtual event has generated over $20,000 for food banks throughout the Adirondacks.  Registration is now open at BikeAdirondacks.com. The event, which was started in 2020 by Bike Adirondacks, LAKEfm and Adirondack 105, is designed to help people get active while generating much needed operating funds for local food pantries. Participants will run, walk, bike or hike and track their miles digitally through the event website to compete for prizes with every single dollar generated going directly to the cause.

“Our goal is to give people a fun way to Move to Fight Hunger,” said Doug Haney, founder of Bike Adirondacks. “Whether you participate as an individual or as a team, we have a category that suits what you and your crew like to do outside.”

New to the 2023 event are specific entry categories for running, walking, bicycling or multisport participants. Which means there are individual and team prizes for each category provided by local business sponsors. In years past, every entry was considered multisport.

“Let’s just say, the bicyclists peddled away with all the prizes in the past,” added Haney. “We remedied that this year and made the team sizes smaller with a total of five per team. This way, small businesses and organizations can not only get involved, but they can also be competitive.”

Registration is just $35 for adults and $25 for children. Team registration is $150 for groups of three to five participants. Prizes will be awarded to the people and teams in each category who clock the most miles during the month of May.
