    Here is a link to an inspirational story for our troubled times. (I added the brief quote below to whet the appetite of the curious):

    “It was 90 years ago — on March 31, 1933 — that newly inaugurated President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed into action the Emergency Conservation Work Act. This action, and for nine subsequent years, recruited and employed young men between the ages of 17 and 25 to perform conservation and construction projects, projects that benefited many corners of the nation during the Great Depression when one in four Americans was unemployed, a number that reached more than 25 percent of the adult population.”

    “Without social programs, without money, without jobs or food, many Americans were without hope. The act, later named Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), provided an answer — and hope to a worried nation.”
