Re: WWNY 8/4/23 – State lawmakers call for new safety measures in wake of solar farm fire.

This should be a wake-up call to all our political leaders that the safety of people who live and visit our Adirondack-north country requires much more transparency and regulatory control over the increasing amount of hazardous chemicals coming into the homes, open spaces and water supplies of our region and elsewhere.

Our communities and our firefighters are being placed in growing danger to their health from exposure to toxic smoke, cancer causing substances found in modern building materials and fire retardants, and from new unfamiliar materials such as those encountered at the solar farm fire near Chaumont in Jefferson County.

Tell your elected leaders to stop protecting corporate profits and get back to work on behalf of the health and safety of our firefighters and our communities.
