Enjoy a free jazz concert in the theater at the Frank M. Hutchins Lodge at the Paul Smith’s College VIC as Bob Meyer leads the Circular Jazz trio in performing the music of the late, great Bert Wilson.
Bert was born in 1939. At 4, he developed polio which nearly killed him. Taking up the clarinet saved his life by helping develop his lungs. Since then, his 73 years were all about creative music both as multi-reed player (soprano, alto, tenor, clarinet and bass clarinet) and composer. His book is a challenging rich tapestry of creative writing in the deepest of jazz traditions. Although not a “household name,” within the jazz world, he is revered by many of best in the business.
“I am honored to carry on his music and thankful beyond words to have these two partners in the Circular Jazz Trio, Dan Blake on soprano, straight alto and tenor saxes, and Bryan Copeland on bass violin,” said Bob Meyer.
Donations in support of this event can be made at the door.
