Paul Smiths, NY – All are welcome to join together this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, October 27 – 29 for a Leave No Trace Spotlight event focused on helping to protect Paul Smith‘s College Visitor Interpretive Center near Paul Smiths, New York. Leave No Trace’s new Spotlight program is a multi-day event to bring attention to community conservation, spread education, and to build momentum and inspire involvement for the future. Friday, October 27:
10 a.m. to noon: Learn about Leave No Trace and meet the Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Team at their booth set up at the Heron Marsh Trailhead (weather permitting) or inside the Paul Smith’s College Visitor Interpretive Center Great Room.
5 to 7 p.m.: Come to Hex and Hop for a social hour and trivia. Enjoy a brew, play trivia, earn prizes, and learn more about Leave No Trace. 1719 Bloomingdale Rd, NY 12913.
Saturday, October 28:
9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.: Stewardship Project – Butterfly House Field Cleanup
Join Leave No Trace and Paul Smith’s VIC to “renovate” our habitat to make it even more appealing to native butterflies, moths, bees, and other beneficial insects. Please bring work gloves, sturdy boots, and water. Pack a lunch to stay for the monthly speaker series with the Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Team after! 3 to 4 p.m.: Monthly Speaker Series – How to Leave No Trace & Reduce your Waste in the Outdoors and Your Daily Life
Learn how to protect and enjoy Paul Smith’s VIC, the Adirondacks, and all your favorite outdoor spaces with practical and easy tips for reducing waste and minimizing your impacts, both in the outdoors and in your daily life. Find out how long it takes for common trash items to decompose and why we should always pack it in, pack it out and other important ways to promote a sustainable future through Leave No Trace.
Sunday, October 29:
9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.: Look for the Leave No Trace Team booth set up at the Heron Marsh Trailhead (or inside the lodge) weather permitting.)
