    • Thank you, Steve (and Gary). I actually penned this story as my personal response to Ted Cruz’s often repeated gun rights rallying cry “What stops armed bad guys is armed good guys.” While that sounds good as a sound bite, I believe the true answer can be summed up in one word. In the end, what stops our nation’s plague of armed bad guy mass shooters will not be teachers with loaded revolvers in their desks. In the end, while enhanced law enforcement funding, training & support nationwide (including community policing- of which I am a big proponent) is one major prong of solutions, NOTHING will stop bad guys with guns, including good guys with guns, without the one thing which our nation currently lacks in order to effectively confront this issue. COURAGE. I believe the rallying cry would better serve the cause if it were “What stops bad guys with guns is good guys with stones.” I go to bed every night, after spending the day with my granddaughter, hoping that someday soon that our great nation & those we have elected to lead it finds some. Otherwise, I fear it is as Gary Lee says, “just a matter of time”… Rangers Lead the Way. God Bless America.
