Reflecting on resilience

steve hall

Having a friend in your life that encourages you, stands for your honor and profoundly changes you for the better is a priceless gift, a gift bestowed upon my husband and I by a man named Steve Hall.  He is the reason I started writing and he is the reason I wrote this poem.  To the most resilient man we have ever known!

Proverbs 27:17 – As Iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another

Resilience

Upon the path, I climbed so high,

With every step, beneath the sky,

Through trials steep and shadows cast,

I faced the storm, I braved the blast.

The peak, distant, seemed so far,

A guide post, my northern star,

Yet through the darkest of despair,

I saw a glimmer in the air.

With every scar, with every tear,

I conquered every trembling fear,

For life, like mountains, tries our will,

And still, we climb and seek the thrill.

As jagged rocks cut deep and wide,

Each pain endured, a scar of pride,

With strength, I climbed, I never fell,

To find my purpose, life to quell.

The winds of loss, they howled and roared,

The weight of sorrow, I deplored,

But on I pressed, through cold and strife,

To find the answer to my life.

And now I stand on peaks so high,

Beneath the endless, open sky,

For in each trial, tragic plight,

I found my strength, my inner light.

Hi Joan, thank you for reading my article/poem. Steve and Wendy are more than worthy of a tribute to who they are! I’m not sure if you saw it but I wrote a tribute to Wendy when she passed. It’s under my list of articles here. Have a great weekend!
