Poetry: Glitter-Ball

Happy New Year 2024 with hat and confetti

Three…two…one…the glitter-ball drops,
Lighting upturned faces, lifting hearts,
With kisses and tears, hopes and fears,
It brings with it, that so-needed hope.
The good and the bad, and the in-between,
The brief and the enduring, intersect,
Intersect, like life in its inscrutability,
Intersect, at the crossroads of the world.

To all…
I wish joy, wonder, peace that encompasses,
The sharing of a warm touch,
The surcease of suffering, need, and despair,
Relief from injustice, faith in humanity’s redemption,
Healing, comfort, strength to go on…
And always, old and new, now and forever,
Love that sustains, embraces, gentles
And fortifies,
Our very souls.
